    A Note from the Chair

The Lake Improvement Board has been researching the use of Weevils to control the Eurasian Milfoil weed problem in our lake. Weevils (Euhrychiopsis lecontei) are a type of beetle native to lakes in the northern states that live on Milfoil. A company by the name EnviroScience Incorporated, located in Stow, Ohio has perfected a process for breeding weevils on a large scale so that they can be stocked in lakes in sufficient quantities to combat Milfoil. EnviroScience presented a proposal to our Lake Improvement Board in conjunction with our treatment contractor, LakePro, Inc. The L.I.B. has reviewed the proposal and determined that is suitable for our lake. A contract with EnviroScience Inc. has been signed and Weevil placement in the lake will begin this summer. More information about Weevils will be presented at the Spring Meeting at the Clubhouse on May 26th. To learn more about EnviroScience’s Milfoil Solution, please visit their website link at http://enviroscienceinc.com/category/milfoil-solution/

The L.I.B. has compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) regarding the use of Weevils to treat Milfoil. To view them, Click HERE or visit the Forms & Documents page of this website.

It’s been an unusual spring in the weather department. During March it felt like summer for a couple of weeks, then we had the more traditional cool and wet spring weather. Nevertheless, it really seems like summer with all the boats and docks that are now in.

Our annual membership drive, which began April 1st, is progressing very well. Currently, we’ve received 307 memberships. We need only 33 more memberships to break last year’s record. Thanks to everyone for their prompt membership renewals!
